It's on his Be Here album, never released to radio, but it's my favorite for the same message of this blog. In it he sings "The long and short of it is some things never last. If it goes for the good, it must go for the bad." This is great comfort, especially when things are not going exactly the way you want them to go.

Sometimes we really, truly, just have to let go and trust in the universe or whatever higher power we believe in. "Trying to make it happen" doesn't always work! Manipulating events doesn't always work, or may work in the short term but make the long term worse. So knowing that all things pass in time - great message of hope. Thanks for sharing it.

Comment on Let it Go--a Musical Reminder

I have "Let the morning come..." going round in my head! I love the message and I love watching the video over and over. I wish we had seen it prior to my children creating Rube Goldberg projects in middle school as there are amazing techniques there. Have a light and lovely day, Marcia!
Comment on Let it Go--a Musical Reminder

I loved the video! In my sales development programs I address this. Today's environment is all about helping each other succeed. Sometimes we directly benefit and sometimes we connect others for their mutual benefit. However, I do believe we must be prepared to define our core value in as few words as possible - the new version of the old "elevator pitch."

Comment on What's your brand? Now There's a concept!! And you're right - when you get the same descriptor over and over and over it sends us an important message too.

The lesson seems to be how people interpret our words and how they perceive our value. We make a lot of assumptions and jump to conclusions about what others think, rather than asking questions to find out the real deal.

Glad I could help spur the thinking cells!

Comment on What's your brand? Here's another thought, "Why don't you like a descriptor?" For instance, with ethics, it's your perception that people think of the word in those terms, but maybe what you demonstrate through your brand is a new association with the word ethics. One that demonstrates how ethical behavior across all processes can revitalize an entire company and transform it's culture. *cue dramatic, angelic voices*.

For me, I don't like the descriptors "perky" or "sweet" and even sometimes, "positive." You know, I am all those things, but to me, they are words that seem superficial. But I have to remind myself that because they aren't the words I would use to describe myself doesn't mean they aren't great attributes. No one wants to hire a droll, angry and negative speaker, right? And the person generating those adjectives may be paying me their best compliment.

BUT...when the word "enthusiastic" comes up time and again, I do have to ask myself if it's time for a shift in the way I present myself. (You may be catching on by now that I write a lot of these blogs to myself!). I don't want to be a cheerleader, I want to be a consultant. I don't want to be seen as one who always is positive, but one who finds the goodness in a situation and uses that as her foundation.

You're right, it doesn't end with our reaction to the brand statements people assign to us, but begins there as we consider if that's the way we truly mean to interact with the world.

Wow...that was a whole other post! Way to get me thinking, Marcy!!
